"If you fail to plan you plan to fail." Pt. 2
I talked last week about the benefit of planning your meals. I also mentioned the importance of scheduling your workouts. I read a tip once that said you should schedule your workouts like they are an important appointment. They said that the more specific you are the better. For example, if I say that I'm going to work out three times this week, that's very vague. However, if I say that on Monday at 5pm I'm going to do 30 minutes of interval training on the treadmill and Wednesday at 6:30 I'm going to work on back and biceps and on Thursday I'm going to a Yoga class at 6 pm I'm much more likely to do these things. Another way to help yourself is to find a workout partner. It's much easier to blow yourself off than it is to skip out on a friend. Most importantly, think of these "appointments" as you would any other responsibility. If you happen to miss a workout or "appointment" be sure to reschedule and get back on track asap. Don't beat yourself up if you happen to miss a workout, but do take these seriously. Here's a motivational tool I always use on myself. I ask myself, "Are you going to regret working out?" "No." "Are you going to regret NOT working out?" The answer is always, "YES!" Have a healthy week! Ryan
