Review/Giveaway- Thirsties Duo Wrap and Hemp Prefold!

Thirsties® is a small (but growing!) cloth diaper company committed to greener parenting and Eco Friendly solutions, not to mention 100% USA Made quality! Erin, founder of Thirsties, started this business with an old sewing machine and $100 five years ago. Through her hard work and diligence, the company is now one of the leaders in the cloth diaper industry. Their diapers are now made by work at home mothers, and very close to our warehouse, reducing their carbon output. Their customer service reps are experienced cloth diapering moms, and offer their knowledge to retailers and customers alike.

Thirsties was awesome enough to send me one of their Duo Wraps and Hemp Prefolds to try out with Jackson as we began our foray into cloth diapering. Check out how cute they packaged everything when it arrived:

The Duo Wrap is made from from a breathable, yet completely waterproof material that can be wiped clean between uses, saving you washing time.
These trim-fit diaper covers are meant to be used with a prefold insert and have special leg gussets that give you extra leak protection. My favorite feature of this diaper is that it comes in two sizes, which saves you lots of money! Size one ranges from 6-18 pounds (0-9 months) and size two goes from 18-40 pounds (9-36 months).

Here's the facts:
An adjustable rise for extended use to suit your growing baby
•Leg gussets provide superior protection against leaks
•Pliable and breathable in 8 fresh colors
•Use with Duo Hemp Prefolds or Stay Dry Duo Inserts and save $2000 over disposables!
•Use from birth to potty with Thirsties Fab Fitted Cloth Diapers and save $1000 over disposables!
Retails for $12.75 solids/$13.75 prints
Check out all of the colors and prints you can order them in!

Thirsties Hemp Prefolds are meant to be used in conjuntion with a diaper cover like Thirstie's Duo Wrap. Thirstie's prefolds are specially designed to allow for a freer air and water flow, ensuring that they get extra clean. Each prefold is only 2 layers thick so that the cloth dries in record time, unlike traditional prefolds. Hemp prefolds are the best because hemp's natural anti-microbial qualities make it more durable and absorbent than cotton. All of these qualities translate into a diaper that is super trim while still maintaining excellent absorbency!
Here's the facts:
•Made from buttery soft custom hemp jersey knitted in the USA
•25% more absorbent and much more durable than pure cotton
•Maintains a trim and comfortable fit
•Naturally antimicrobial
•Pair with Thirsties Duo Wrap and save $2000 over disposables!
Patent-pending design is easy to clean, quick to dry, and grows with your baby
Retails for $7.00 each

Pros: Highly absorbent, excellent workmanship, love the leg gussets for leakage prevention, super cute colors.
Cons: Prefolds can be tricky to fold and can slip around if you don't secure them properly.
Bottom Line: Amazing product from a company! I highly recommend Thirsties for all of your cloth-diapering needs!

I just recently made the decision to switch to cloth because with a 9 month old and another due in January, we simply can't afford not to!

I learned that Fabric softeners and diaper rash ointment can coat the fibers of your diapers and make them leak.
and the the solution to that is to Strip your diapers by replacing your detergent with 1-2 Tbs Dawn dish soap. Discontinue using fabric softeners and diaper rash ointments that are not advertised as cloth diaper friendly.

They do sell a diaper rash cream: All Natural Rash Magic Diaper Cream which is ok to use on cloth diapers !!
