Crafty Stuff- Chalkboard Globe

I am a certified Pinterest addict. My husband thinks I need to join a support group. I think he needs to be appreciative of all of the great decorating ideas I get from all of the cool people on there. Not long ago I saw this picture of an awesome globe someone painted with chalkboard paint (and of course I can't find said picture anywhere) and I thought to myself "I could do that!" So a week or so later when I went on my weekly jaunt to the local Goodwill what did my little eye spy? A gorgeous old globe! Yippee! I love when that happens. So here is one of my latest crafts:

I got it half painted before realizing I should probably take a before shot.

And after:

I found the quote on Pinterest too. I'm big on quotes and thought this was perfect.

If you want to make your own globe check out your local thrift stores for the globe. Chalkboard paint can be picked up at craft stores or Home Depot and Loews.

Crafty Stuff

Here are a couple of crafty projects that I just finished.
Zippered Pouch
This was my first time sewing in a zipper and it was a little tricky since you have to change out your sewing machine feet and line up everything just so. I love this little bag because it uses up my leftover fabric scraps and has a cute lining. Perfect as a makeup bag!
Directions here.

Crayon Roll
Another great project to use up little pieces of fabric you have laying around. You need to use a lightweight fusible interfacing for this project, which gives it some extra durability. I used three different types of fabric and sewed a long ribbon on to tie it all up. Perfect for the diaper bag to keep Jackson entertained at dinner!
Directions here.

Look What I Made!

More time on my hands (sorta)= More Time to Make Stuff! I always feel better when I'm doing things with my hands and I've had a few projects lined up for awhile that I haven't been able to start until now. First up is Jackson's new outfit! I recently went to Joann's and they were clearancing out a bunch of iron-ons for only 97 cents, which I scooped up immediately. Here's Jackson modeling his newest one:
Notice the adorable Baby Legs? These suckers cost $12 each and since I've become a hardcore bargain shopper I decided to try making my own. I bought several pairs of clearanced socks at Target ($1.98 for two sets) and cut off the toe. Ta da! Cute baby leg warmers which are perfect for the Arizona heat/freezing cold air-conditioning. I made him four pairs for $4!

I also embroidered him this bib, which was super easy and something relaxing to do at night. (I know- I'm such an old lady.)

More to come!

My new Crafty Mamma book arrived in the mail today!

This book has the cutest crafts to make for baby! I am so super excited to make some cute stuff for Jackson, namely the "schleppy" and "you-tencils." The schleppy is an adorable kid-sized fleece blanket with fringe that Jackson can drag all over the place. A "you-tencil" is a baby spoon personalized with adorable alphabet beads to spell out your child's name. I want to make a few of these as gifts! Super cute book and the crafts look pretty simple to make!

A New Addiction

Anytime I am not taking classes I feel the need to take up a new hobby. My new addiction is making cute little onesies for our new nephew Justin. I took plain white Gerber onesies and dyed them using Tangerine RIT dye. Then I ironed on a cute picture ("Chick Magnet") by Plaid. Easy and cute! I'm also going to make some girly ones for one of my friends at work with ribbon.
